“To ride out in the cordillera, you must be fearless,” says Chalo, a proud Huaso by birth.

My arrival in Los Angeles in south-central Chile coincided with the devastating earthquake of 2010. Fortunately, I was surrounded by Huasos – the Chilean horsemen, farmers, and breeders who showcased remarkable solidarity, adaptability, and a strong sense of community during those testing times.
